Description
Dense, fudgy brownies cut into football shapes and drizzled with salty-sweet peanut butter laces. These make-ahead treats are perfect for Super Bowl parties or any game day gathering.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (113 grams) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (175 grams) semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 cup (200 grams) granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup (85 grams) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (128 grams) creamy peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil or shortening (for laces)
- Flaky sea salt (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides, and grease lightly.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine butter and chocolate chips. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between intervals, until smooth and glossy.
- Whisk in eggs and sugar vigorously for about one minute until the mixture is lighter in color and glossy. Add vanilla extract and mix.
- Gently fold in the flour using a spatula until just incorporated. Do not overmix.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes until edges pull away slightly and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let brownies cool completely in the pan (about 30 minutes). Lift out using parchment overhang.
- Use a 2.5-inch round cutter to cut out circles from the cooled brownies.
- Melt peanut butter with coconut oil in the microwave for 30 seconds until smooth. Transfer to a Ziploc bag and snip a tiny corner.
- Drizzle lines across the brownie circles to mimic football laces. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
- Let peanut butter set for 10 minutes at room temperature or 5 minutes in the fridge.
Notes
Brownies continue to cook as they cool, so aim for slightly underdone in the center for a fudgy texture. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For best results, bake brownies ahead of time and add peanut butter laces just before serving to prevent sogginess. You can also press brownie scraps into a separate pan to make brownie bites.
